It was not any old train: it was the Music & Ale train that runs from Leeds to the stunning Ribbleshead Viaduct and back, serving folk & ale at one end and jazz & wine at the other (we sided with the folk crowd). It was a beautiful evening and I spent half the time with my beer in one hand and my camera in the other peering out of the window.
This was last summer, but I returned to it lately and re-discovered the photograph this image comes from. At the time I thought it not good enough, but a little distance in time and I can see it with fresh eyes.
I posted others last year taken from the same window that evening:
This tree here looks like the same one from a little further down the track... the sheep are now lost in shadow.
I recommend the Music & Ale Train. We were shocked to find that it was just a completely ordinary commuter train, but that just added to the surreal feeling of the whole evening. People actually got dressed up for it and a glorious time was had by all.
